Honest about what it doesn't know
Every forecast is a guess, and most apps hide that behind one confident number. Quiet Weather asks two independent weather models — Canada's GEM and Europe's ECMWF — the same question, and shows you how much they agree.
When they agree, you can lean on it. When they don't, you get told. That is the whole difference between a forecast you can use and a number that just looks certain.
§ 01Official alerts, word for word
Warnings come straight from Environment and Climate Change Canada, matched to your exact location against the real alert polygon rather than to whichever city happens to be nearest. They appear exactly as ECCC issued them — never rewritten, never summarised, never re-rated. Alerts are free and always will be.
They are also, deliberately, not the whole safety story. Read the weather and safety disclaimer before you rely on any app — this one included — for a decision that matters.

Will the rain reach me?
The question a radar map never quite answers. Minute-by-minute precipitation at your exact pin: when it starts, when it eases, roughly how much, with a two-hour strip so you can see it coming.
Radar that feels like a map
ECCC's 1 km rain and snow composites over Canada's own base map, with proper inertial pan and pinch, an hour of animation, and an optional overlay of the official alert areas.
Eighteen widgets
Hourly and daily strips with the temperature curve drawn properly. Squares that show where the sun actually is in today's arc, or the temperature on a scale from today's low to its high. Sun and moon with a real terminator.
Thirteen honest day-readings
Gardening, running, cycling, driving, the dog walk, hiking, camping, golf, the patio, photography, the school run, outdoor work, clearing the driveway. Each with a rating, the best window, and the one thing worth planning around.
Outdoors, without the guessing
Fishing, paddling and boating conditions, and a night-by-night camping comparison that answers "which night" rather than "is tonight any good". None of them claim what the data cannot back.
Frost, while there is still light
A frost warning at two in the morning is not a warning — it is a report of something already lost. Quiet Weather tells you in the evening, while there is still time to cover the plants and drain the hose.
§ 03Built for Canada
ECCC alerts and radar. The Canadian AQHI where a station is near you. Pressure in kPa, because that is what the forecast on the radio says — with hPa and inHg there if you want them. Metric or imperial throughout, your choice.
§ 04Privacy, meant literally
No analytics. No crash reporting. No advertising SDK. No account. No server of ours for your data to sit on. Your places and settings stay on your phone.
The one thing that leaves your device is the pair of coordinates needed to ask for a forecast — because a forecast is not something a phone can work out on its own. The privacy policy says exactly where those go and what they carry, which is nothing but the numbers.
